Collaborative Effort Provides Free Books to CES Students
Calistoga resident and author, Tim Carl has written his first book for young children. “Pointy”, which is colorfully illustrated by Valerie Raven of Napa, offers a message encouraging its young readers to be strong enough to accept themselves as they are, and to be patient and kind enough to accept others as they are. “Pointy” has an anti-bullying message that celebrates the beauty of difference. Because of its timeless message, Calistoga based Love Gracefully Foundation, founded by Richard Hill, has purchased 430 copies of the book to be given to the Primary Grades at Calistoga Elementary School. Soroptimist International of Calistoga, which sponsors the Read Aloud Partners Program at the school, has been chosen to distribute the books to all the students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 for them to take home and keep. This type of collaboration is much appreciated by the School District since research has shown that children with books at home are eight times more likely to list reading as one of their favorite activities.

3rd Grade Digital Promise Video

Students from Mrs. Bogart's Third Grade Class brainstormed in groups about how technology has changed their learning. Then a group of students used the brainstorm notes to storyboard the video. Another group took the storyboard and wrote a script for the voice over. Then the whole class helped film, record the voice over, and edit the video for submission using WeVideo.
